Interpret and respond to this quote by the narrator: “He found himself understanding the wearisome of life, where every path was an improvisation and a considerable part of one’s waking life was spent looking at one’s feet.”
The beginning of the quote “He found himself understanding the wearisome of life, where every path was an improvisation" Most likely means that Ralph was realizing that his entire life is just improvising. You can plan and plan to your hearts conent, but there is almost no time where everything works out as planned. Therefore you have to improvise on what to do next. This is the awful truth that almost nothing goes as you want it to.
The second part of the quote, "a considerable part of one’s waking life was spent looking at one’s feet.” Is probably refering to having your head hang low because of sadness or failure. Another awful truth, that although there are many great accomplishments in your life there will be just as many sad and painful times, sometimes even more than the good. However, I hope for you that there is much more good then bad in your life. Unless I don't like you then I wish the oppisite, just kidding.

Opinions
After reading Chapter 4, have your views about life, violence, power, and control changed since the beginning of the book?
To be completely honest, they haven't changed at all. My views about life are still it sucks, but sometimes we've got to make the best of it. My views of violence are still the same, that it is a necessary evil. I say violence is a nessacary evil because in some ways it has to happen. For example, if the civil war was never fought who knows, the place we're living right now could still have slavery. If the revolutionary war was never fought, we'd all probably be still under British rule. My views about power have not changed, I still believe that if used wisely can change the world for the better. If abused it can change it for the worse. My views of control still haven't changed, I still think that no one should have absolute control of anything.
I think that my opinions have not changed because, it is very challenging to change my opinion on anything. In that way, I'm pretty stubborn, however I think that's a bit of a good thing, at least in someways.

Letter to Auntie
This prompt is about how it would feel to be Piggy from the book, Lord of the Flies, writing a letter to your Aunt
Dear Auntie,
I know you won't be reciving this but it makes me feel comfortable when I'm writing to you. More civilized. Where I am is insane. There are a bunch of very rude boys who call me "Piggy" which I specifically said not to. They also NEVER listen to me. It makes me so angry and I wish they'd let me talk when I had the conch.
Oh wait you don't know what that means. The conch is like a microphone, who ever has it get's to talk, but not when I have it. They just laugh at me or yell at me and It's super lame. The kids on this island who've I've gotten to know the best are, Jack and Ralph. I don't much care for Jack. He's kind of an arse but, I admire Ralph. He's quite the leader and it seems as if he is doing his best, but it seems like everything would just go a bit smoother if they'd listen to me. Even a little bit would be alright.
Love,
Your nephew
